3 ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER FOLLOWING FIGHT AT NORTHMONT PARK IN LA MESA

March 10, 2010 (La Mesa) – La Mesa Police has arrested Anthony Long, 19, of El Cajon and two juvenile males from El Cajon and Santee for attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. The assault occurred on March 6 at Northmont Park in LA Mesa.

The suspects were arrested after search warrants were obtained and searches conducted on three homes in East County. According to the police investigation, two groups of young men got into a phone argument over a girl following a party in El Cajon, then agreed to meet at Northmont Park for a fight.

 

 

Long and the two juveniles arrived armed with a baseball bat and golf club and attacked the other three males. During the attack, one man was knocked to the ground and repeatedly struck in the head and face with a baseball bat. He sustained multiple head wounds and is still listed in critical condition at Sharp Memorial Hospital. Two others were also hospitalized.

Long was booked into County Jail for attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. The two juvenile males were transported to Juvenile Hall on the same charges.
