March 21, 2017 (San Diego’s East County) -- A man suspected of robbing several East County businesses has turned himself in this afternoon and is now in custody, the Sheriff’s Department advises. The suspect is Randall Lee, 22, of Lakeside.

On February 28th and twice on March 12th, the suspect allegedly committed thefts at the Best Buy store in La Mesa and at Walmart stores in Santee and Lakeside. During each incident, store employees attempted to confront the suspect to recover their stolen property. In each incident, the suspect used a weapon to prevent his capture.

Deputy Kristin Billieux from the Santee Sheriff's Station determined the three incidents were related. She notified other law enforcement agencies in the East County. A San Diego County Crime Stoppers bulletin was also sent out to the media this morning asking for the public's help.

After Lee turned himself in, he was charged with several crimes, including robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, brandishing a replica gun and burglary. He could face more charges from other local law enforcement agencies. Lee was booked into the San Diego Central Jail.

The Sheriff's Department would like to thank the public and the media for their assistance in this case.
