May 29, 2018 (La Mesa) - The Foothills Art Association invites everyone to enjoy “Art in the Park” an art show and sale at MacArthur Park in La Mesa on Sunday, June 10 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Many local artists will be displaying and selling their artwork during a festive day in La Mesa’s newest community park. See the art, listen to the music, bring a picnic lunch, and enjoy a family day at MacArthur Park.
MacArthur Park, the location of the “Art in the Park” event, was re-dedicated as a public park in La Mesa last year. It had previously been home to the Sun Valley Golf Course, a nine-hole public golf course since 1954. The 13-acre golf course, adjacent to La Mesa’s 22-acre community park at 4975 Memorial Drive, closed in June 2017 and was then re-opened as public parkland in October 2017.
The Foothills Art Association which is the sponsor of the “Art in the Park” event was founded in 1949. Its mission has been to promote the advancement of fine arts in the community and to benefit individual artists through association. The Foothills Gallery is located in La Mesa’s historic Porter Hall building which is adjacent to MacArthur Park. The Foothills Gallery is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday (11 am to 4 pm).
