January 16, 2018 (San Diego) -- Pianist/composer Danny Green and his trio – featuring bassist Justin Grinnell and drummer Julien Cantelm – perform at the Mission Trails Golf Course (7380 Golfcrest Place, San Diego) on Thursday, January 25th. Pre-performance dining begins at 4:30 p.m. and the performance will be from 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.

A rising force on the national jazz scene, San Diego native Green has distinguished himself with his beautifully articulated touch and melodically charged sensibility. Signed as an Origin recording artist in 2014, Green’s growing portfolio of vibrant sounds has garnered multiple awards and has captured the attention of critics around the world. His work has been featured in the San Diego Union Tribune, the Boston Globe, DownBeat Magazine, Jazziz, Public Radio International, and more. Green’s gifted composing has earned him two San Diego Music Awards for Best Jazz Album.

Green’s trio, formed in 2010, includes bassist Justin Grinnell and drummer Julien Cantelm. They have performed at prominent jazz clubs and festivals across the country, including the San Jose Jazz Summer Festival and the Blue Whale in Los Angeles. They were the featured artists at TEDxSanDiego in October, performing with string players of the San Diego Symphony at Copley Symphony Hall.

Green’s love of partnering the trio with a string ensemble is reflected on his new release slated for April, which features strings on every song. The music of the new album continues in the fashion of his 2016 release Altered Narratives, in which his trio explored a panoply of moods and grooves, incorporating elements of jazz, classical, blues, and Brazilian music.

Tickets are available by emailing agm@missiontrailsgc.com or by calling 619-460-5400. General admission $10, club members $5.
