BICYCLIST, 60, KILLED AT FRIARS & I-15

February 5, 2011 (San Diego) – A bicyclist traveling eastbound on Friars Road struck the side of a box truck while attempting to pass the off-ramp from northbound I-15. The cyclist fell and was run over by the truck, sustaining fatal injuries.

 

A companion riding with the cyclist was not hurt. According to San Diego Police, no drugs or alcohol were involved. The truck driver pulled over and passing motorists called 911. Medical personnel responded and initiated life-saving efforts, but were unable to save the victim and death was pronounced at the scene.

 

The San Diego medical examiner’s office reports that the deceased was a married 60-year old Caucasian man who resided with his wife at their home in San Diego. His name has not yet been released pending notification of kin.
