BRUSH FIRE IN SANTEE DOUSED

Update 4 p.m. -- The fire has been classified as "major," Incident Page Network reports.  The fire is burning mostly uphill, away from homes threatened earlier.  A strike-3 team has been requested.

 

May 3, 2011 (Santee) -- A brush fire in Santee has burned several acres and structures are threatened. Incident Page Network reports the blaze began at Lake Carlton and Carlton Hills. A City of Santee spokesperson indicates firefighters are currently battling the blaze at Halberns and Cuyamaca.

  "There are a lot of units out there right now," a Heartland Fire dispatcher said. 

 

"It's Carleton Hills and Lake Canyon Road. They've blocked off Halberns," Arliss Cates at the City of Santee informed ECM.

 

IPN now reports medical aid has been requested for a smoke inhalation victim at Mast and Halberns.
