January 19, 2011 (San Diego's East County) -- Motorists traveling on Mission Gorge Road to southbound State Route 125 in Santee will lose one lane for the next four weeks, Cal-Trans has announced.  Southbound traffic will be directed along a shoulder to the future 52/125 southbound onramp starting Thursday morning at 5 a.m.

"We need this short stretch oof the on-ramp to complete construction for the SR-52 extension," said Caltrans Senior Resident Engineer Ed Fitzgibbon.  The work is part of the $477 million Sunny Side Gateway project to extend SR-52 from SR-125 to SR-67 in Santee.  Work on the project began in 2008 and is slated for completion by March.
