June 23, 2016 (La Mesa) – After 41 years, Sanfilippo Pizza in La Mesa will be closing permanently.

The La Mesa Chamber has announced a farewell party on Friday, June 24th at  2 p.m. to recognize Anna Sanfilippo and her daughter, Dora, for their dedication in running the family-run business at 8141 La Mesa Blvd.

The restaurant’s last day of operation will be Sunday, June 26th.

The restaurant has gone through hard times following the death of Anna’s husband and the extended construction during the La Mesa streetscape improvements.

“The closing of this local restaurant after 41 years is a historic occasion and one that brings a close to  a chapter of La Mesa history. Come say goodbye and personally thank Anna and Dora and wish them well,” La Mesa Chamber president Mary England says of the farewell event on Friday afternoon.
