April 27, 2018 (San Diego) –  Acclaimed investigative journalist Greg Palast will be appearing and speaking at a showing of his award-winning documentary film, “The Best Democracy Money Can Buy: Case of the Stolen Election” on Tuesday, May 1st at the Joan B. Kroc Peace & Justice Center theatre at the University of San Diego (5998 Alcala Park, San Diego).

Palast sat down with East County Magazine for an interview that aired on our show on KNSJ radio (which runs 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.  at 89.1 FM.) The film showing is a benefit fundraiser for KNSJ public radio.

Greg Palast has been called the most important investigative reporter of our time by the Guardian newspaper. His exposé reports have been featured on the BBC, and in the Nation Magazine and Rolling Stone. He’s received the George Orwell Courage in Journalism Award, been called an American hero by Martin Luther King III, and hailed as the last investigative journalism in America by Robert F Kennedy Jr.

He’s led investigations into multi-billion-dollar frauds in the oil, nuclear, power and finance industries, and gained fame for his investigations into voting fraud in U.S. elections.  He’s published several books and is the producer of “The Best Democracy Money Can Buy: Case of the Stolen Election”, a documentary film which asserts that the 2016 election was rigged with help of a program called Crosscheck to purge millions of minority voters off the voting rolls in swing states by falsely claiming they were duplicate voters – even when middle names didn’t match, or surnames were common Latino, Asian and black names in different states.

Before the election, Palast predicted how Donald Trump would win the election with help not from Russians, but from Crosscheck.   He now has a post-election updated version of his documentary film out that will be showed at the May 1st viewing.

The mastermind behind Crosscheck was Kris Kobach, whom Trump later named to chair his Commission on Election Integrity—an action Palast likens to putting Al Capone in charge of financial integrity.

Palast has local ties and is a frequent visitor to East County, where his mother, Gladys, resided for many years.

Update:  Hours after this interview, Gladys Palast, Greg's mom, passed away at age 96.  I drove Greg to the hospital, where he was able to see her before she died.

Greg has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Activist San Diego and KNSJ Radio, which are establishing a fund in Gladys Palast's name to foster youth activism. Donations to KNSJ may be made at www.KNSJ.org. For details on memorial services set for April 27 and May 1, click here.

Well...

I think we need our own blog. We all sound very intelligent.

REACTIONS

I've seen these same reactions with Trump and those affiliated with him too. Isn't interesting how he has continually pointed his finger and berated others for doing the same things? Yet when eyes are on his wrongdoings, it's "FAKE NEWS" or a "WITCH HUNT". Of course his staunch supporters continue to stand by him. They may fall beside him as well. The truth shall prevail - I hope.

The Mob takes the Fifth? Something changed btwn then & now?

This is a stunning development,” Michael Avenatti, a lawyer for Daniels, said in a tweet. “Never before in our nation’s history has the attorney for the sitting President invoked the 5th Amend in connection with issues surrounding the President. It is esp. stunning seeing as MC served as the ‘fixer’ for Mr. Trump for over 10 yrs.”
It is not uncommon for defendants facing both civil liability and criminal prosecution to request a pause in civil proceedings to avoid giving sworn testimony and producing documents that could prove incriminating.

Even so, in 2016, Trump sneered at Hillary Clinton aides for exercising their right not to self-incriminate during a congressional investigation into her private email server.
“The mob takes the Fifth,” Trump said at one campaign rally. “If you’re innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?”

PARTY AFFILIATION

I vote as a non-partisan thank you. To me it is senseless to be just one sided.

Tally

1 Republican, 2 Democrats, so far.

TRUMP SUPPORTERS

Are Trump supporters uninformed as to the real truth, or just not wanting to admit to it? "Greatest president since Ronald Reagan"? I think not. I do agree that Mr. Reagan was a very good president for sure, but Donald Trump? No way. I find it unsettling that so many republicans are so quick to blame the ills of this country on democrats, yet refuse to accept any blame for their own wrong doings. Same goes for democrats. Stop already. It should never be about party affiliation. It should be about performance, integrity and truth. When democrats blame republicans for something though, the reaction is swift and vehement! Both parties are to blame for numerous things, and also should be credited with many accomplishments. The truth is out there for those who choose to research it themselves instead of listening and believing others who revel in stirring up drama and hate. It's far past time to play the blame game and begin working together in unity to make this country whole and strong. Those in positions of power should be prioritizing their work to help the citizens of the United States, not cater to outside influence. They should always do what the people as a whole want. We vote, pay taxes, and therefore our opinions should matter. It's time to stop all the bickering and get the job done!

Wow!

The only person to find wide spread election fraud and that by a check processing company? Really? The Democrats have done NOTHING except trying to depose President Trump since the day he was elected. They are totally worthless. In spite of their efforts Trump has, lowered my taxes, improved our economy, and lowered unemployment. He is going to protect our borders and remove the illegal criminals. He has faced off against North Korea, Russia, and China and ALL their leaders blinked. ( That's caved under for you young people. ) He will go down as the greatest president since Ronald Wilson Reagan. All this in spite of the far left media shouting collusion. Surprised they are not blaming aliens for crooked Hillary's loss.
