December 4, 2011 (San Diego’s East County) – Alberto Octavio Valenzuela, 49, crashed the Honda he was driving at a high rate of speed into the Jamul Feed Store at 12868 Campo Road in Spring Valley shortly before 4 a.m. on Friday. The Medical Examiner’s office has ruled his death a suicide, noting that Valenzuela suffered from clinical depression.

A passerby called 911, but emergency responders were unable to revive Valenzuela and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

ECM news partner 10 News reports that CHP found evidence including lack of skid marks to indicate the crash was intentional. Valenzuela, who was married, resided in San Diego with his family.

An employee told 10 News that the crash did not cause major structural damage, mainly hitting “a lot of dog food.” The store has remained open.
