June 5, 2012- For cash strapped school districts in rural East County, tonight's final results will mean deeper cuts for local schools. Two bond measures have gone down in defeat, one by the slimmest of margins.
With 100% of precincts counted, voters in the Mountain Empire School District narrowly missed passage of Prop G, a $31 million bond. With all 11 precincts counted, the measure got 54.05% of the vote, just shy of the 55% needed for passage.
In Alpine, voters soundly defeated Prop H, a $12 million bond for the Alpine School District. With all 13 precincts counted, the measure received only 43.33% yes votes, while 56.67% voted no.
