August 16, 2017 (San Diego) - The Padres pounded the Phillies with offense last night to take the series and today, they looked for the sweep.  Nick Pivetta started for the Phillies against Clayton Richard.

Today, it was the Wil Myers Show.  In the fourth, he singled to score Carlos Asuaje and then stole home to give the Padres a 2-0 lead.

Hunter Renfroe added on with a double in the sixth that scored Cory Spangenberg and the Padres secured their first sweep in a very long time with a 3-0 win.  Clayton Richard pitched a complete-game shutout.

The Phillies leave town, only to be replaced by another NL East foe, the Washington Nationals, who come in tomorrow for a four game weekend series.  First pitch tomorrow night is at 7:10 p.m.  Edwin Jackson starts for the Nationals against Jhoulys Chacin.
