Open to all GUHSD students – if you can draw, you can win!

February 5, 2010 (La Mesa) – Golden Artistry Jewelry Design invites Grossmont Union High School district students to participate in its 2nd annual jewelry design competition. “We are doing this in order to find students that have creative skills, and help them find their calling,” says Terry Whyte, owner and master goldsmith.

This year’s theme is fire. To fire up your creativity, Whyte invites students to ponder these synonyms: combustion, blaze, luminosity, sparkle, brilliance, splendor, energy…then draw an original design.

A grand prize, first, second and third place winners will be awarded. The top design will be created into a piece of jewelry and given to the student. The community’s choice winner will receive a special trophy. Last year’s winners received cash, prizes, internships and trophies.

Entry deadline is March 8. Winners will be presented on May 6th at the La Mesa Community Center. Funds raised will be distributed to the Grossmont Union High School district’s art, theater and music departments by Friends of East County Arts, Inc.
