January 24, 2012 (Jamul) – The citizens of Jamul,  a small rural town in eastern San Diego Country, have launched of a community website at www.Jamul.com. The new site includes community news, emergency alerts, history, resources, events and more.

The site’s purpose is to provide all those living and working in Jamul and the surrounding area with a comprehensive informational resource.

Find vital emergency services information as well as important announcements such as road closings and community-wide alerts and updates that could impact many people’s daily lives. A large red banner serves as an immediate link to emergency resources information and is prominently displayed near the top of the right column of every page.

Jamul.com also provides an opportunity for its citizens to enhance the quality of life within the community. Everyone is encouraged to provide information about the area’s history, schools, churches, sports & recreation, places to visit and public services. Local organizations, groups and clubs will receive a free page to highlight their programs, meetings and schedules, and are encouraged to upload photos of their events.

Jamul.com is also a social networking tool where individuals are invited to share ideas and stories that could be helpful to others. The Jamul Living section will include local recipes and a photo gallery, all provided by members of the community. The site is to be a “window” through which the world will come to learn of the town’s independent spirit and diversity of cultures that make it such a special place to live.

The site features a community calendar where events, festivals, athletic competitions and important gatherings can be found. Information for the community calendar can be quickly and easily submitted via the site’s email address: info@jamul.com. Everyone is invited to use the free classifieds section to sell and buy items, place help-wanted ads, announce garage sales and other typical classified listings.

Because Jamul is a town with a vibrant business community, the new website provides businesses that serve the Jamul a number of opportunities to share information about their business, all of which are currently free. The Business Directory section includes a long list of business categories and the associated businesses that serve the Jamul area.

As part of its launch announcement, companies located in Jamul or doing business in the community will receive a free premium listing on the site through June 30, 2012. Businesses may display a photo or their logo, business name, street address, phone numbers, website address, email address, Facebook page, Twitter address, a 100-word business description and a map.

Deerhorn Valley Community Association, East County Magazine and Jamul.com are exchanging information between their sites to help the community. Jamul.com welcomes other sites to exchange and post information.
