June 16, 2016 (Colorado Springs, Co.) - San Diego State University sophomore Ashley Henderson has been named the Mountain West Conference's outdoor track & field Student Athlete of the Year.

Henderson set a school record in the 4x100 prelims with a time of 43.55.  In last Thursday's prelims, she ran 23.30 in the 200 to place 11th, earning All-American honors in both the 100 and 4x100 and second-team accolades in the 200.

At the Mountain West championships in Fresno last month, Henderson won the 100, 200 and anchored the 4x100 and was named the Women's Outstanding Performer of the Meet.

Henderson is the second athlete to earn the Student Athlete of the Year award under SDSU track & field head coach Shelia Burrell.  She has qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials in both the 100 and the 200.
