ECM PADRES REPORT: REDS BEAT PADRES 4-1

March 22, 2023 (Goodyear, Ariz.) - After a big win yesterday, the Padres headed out to Goodyear to face the Reds.  Seth Lugo started against Graham Ashcraft for Cincinnati.

It was all Reds from the start.  Tyler Stephenson singled in the first to score Joey Votto, Spencer Steele scored in the second and Votto grounded into a double play in the fifth to score Will Benson and the Reds led 3-0 after five.

 
Curt Casali hit a sac fly to score T.J. Friedl and the Reds led 4-0 after six.  The Padres scored one run in the eighth, but the Reds prevailed with a 4-1 win.
 
UP NEXT
 
The Padres have their first split squad game of the spring.  One squad will stay in Peoria to host the Royals and the other will go to Phoenix to face the Brewers.  First pitch for both games start at 1:10 p.m., but only the Royals game will be available to watch.  The Brewers contest can only be listened to on MLB.com.  Brady Singer starts for the Royals against Ryan Weathers.  Jay Groome starts against Bryce Wilson for Milwaukee.
