November 1, 2015 (San Diego) - Don Mattingly would be driven up a wall managing the Padres. A.J. Preller and the Padres seemed to know this.
Luckily, Mattingly is off the market, so the Padres hired Arizona Diamondbacks third base coach Andy Green. Green takes under his wing a team that has a decent bullpen and lineup, but cannot manage to obtain a winning record and make the playoffs.
The Padres have missed the playoffs for nine straight seasons and have had a losing record for five straight seasons. Last season was Green’s 12th with the Diamondbacks organization. In four seaons with Arizona’s farm system, he went 219-189.
