POLICE NAB CAB ROBBER IN LA MESA

July 16, 2010 (La Mesa) – A suspect accused of robbing a cab driver at knifepoint in La Mesa has been arrested, La Mesa Police report. The cab driver became suspicious after the suspect directed him to pull over several times in areas that were dark and remote. Instead, the driver stopped his cab in the 7900 block of La Mesa Boulevard at 1:30 a.m. and asked for his fare.

The passenger pulled out a knife and the driver got out of the cab. The suspect exited the cab and swung a knife toward the driver, then ran. When police arrived, the cab driver pointed out where he last saw the suspect running between two homes. Officers located the man lying in some bushes in the 7800 block of La Mesa Blvd.
 

The suspect, Eric Allison, 26, of La Mesa, was identified by the cab driver and booked into San Diego County Jail for robbery.
