WIND WARNING: 75 MPH GUSTS ON CHRISTMAS DAY
East County News Service
December 24, 2014 (San Diego’s East County)--It’s going to be a sunny, warm and windy Christmas day, the national weather service predicts.
A wind watch has been issued for strong westerly winds developing Christmas Eve and forecast to continue through Christmas Day – when gusts up to 75 miles per hour are possible!
To give you an idea how strong that is, sustained winds of 75 miles an hour more are considered hurricane force – so it’s a good idea to take down those patio umbrellas and secure items you don’t want to have blow away.
Strongest winds are expected on desert slopes and in mountain passes, so be sure to watch for blowing sand and downed tree limbs if you’re traveling this holiday weekend.
