April 10, 2015 (El Cajon)--Baby Mallard ducks are swimming and exploring their new world, under the ever-watchful eyes of the adults, at the waterscape in downtown El Cajon at Main Street and Sulzfeld Way.

They are so cute and well, fuzzy. Awkward on land, yet skillful swimmers, they are very skittish when humans approach. They scurry around eating ’fast food’ on the run.

It won’t be long before they are adults, assuming they don’t become the next meal for a hungry hawk! The circle of life to be sure…

This is one of my ‘go to’ places for a wildlife adventure in the city. Another reason to love spring right?

There is such an abundance of new life everywhere one looks, from animals to plants and flowers - if the time is taken.
