July 9, 2015 (San Diego’s East County) – If you’re looking for a stirring summertime musical experience, the San Diego Concert Band will be performing at the Water Conservation Garden on the campus of Cuyamaca College on July 26th at 6 p.m. “An Evening of Music at the Garden” will benefit both of these nonprofit organizations. (Guests are welcome to come early for a stroll through the gardens to learn some tips on how to have beautiful low-water gardens.)
Recently, the East County Magazine Show sat down with Chuck Brown, President of the San Diego Concert Band, and John Bolthouse, Director of the Water Conservation Garden, for an interview on the East County Magazine Show on KNSJ radio.
We talked about the histories and goals of these worthy organizations, learned about music coming up on the concert program, and heard a sneak-preview of “Matador Mountain,” a rousing fanfare written by Mount Miguel High School graduate Adam Pezdek.
The outdoor concert at the garden will also feature light classics, historical themes, and modern compositions. San Diego Concert Band, which started in East County, has been performing together for 25 years.
The band has additional concerts coming up soon, including these:
Jul 26, 2015 Concert at the Water Conservation Garden (joint fundraiser for band and garden)
Aug 11, 2015 Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park
Sep 27, 2015 Joint concert with a Canadian band – in La Mesa
Dec 15, 2015 27th Annual Holiday Concert
Apr 05, 2016 27th Annual Spring Concert
