East County News Service
June 13, 2017 (Santee) – The San Diego’s Sheriff’s office advises that Michael Bauer, a registered sex offender, has recently moved to Santee. Bauer was convicted of molesting a 7-year-old boy, a stranger to him, inside a fast food restaurant restroom in 2009.
A former transient in San Diego, he is on parole under supervision of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. A parole officer monitors his movements through a GPS ankle bracelet.
He is now living at 10380 Prospect Avenue in Santee. Bauer is not wanted by the Sheriff's Department at this time.
Bauer is not allowed to have contact with anyone under the age of 18 or be in the vicinity of places where children gather such as schools, playgrounds, parks, or movie theaters.
The Sheriff's Department and the Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement (SAFE) Task Force are not responsible for the selection of Bauer's residence.
California Penal Code Section 290, also known as “Megan’s Law,” permits law enforcement agencies to warn the community about sex offenders who frequent the area. The purpose of this notice is to allow members of the public to protect themselves and/or their children from sex offenders.
“This notification is not intended to induce fear; rather it is our belief that an informed community is a safer community. Use of this information to threaten, intimidate, or harass the subject or any other person will not be tolerated and may result in prosecution,” a notice from the Santee Sheriff’s station reads.
The SAFE Task Force is composed of participating and member agencies in the County of
San Diego including state, local and federal agencies. For more information about SAF E, visit http://sdsafe.org/.
