READERS’ EDITORIAL: KILLING WOMEN IS NOT “PRO-LIFE”

By Wren Osborn
February 26, 2011 (San Diego’s East County) --I do not think the anti-abortion groups should be allowed to lay claim to the name "pro-lifers."
After all, they now want Congress to pass a law to prohibit abortions needed to save a woman's life.
Many anti-abortionists have advocated taking that step for years. Too many of them call for violence and a few have even advocated killing or have killed those who provided abortions.
Certainly eliminating funds for screenings for cancer, AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases, as the Republican-controlled House of Representatives has just voted to do with the Pence Amendment to H.R. 1, cannot be considered “pro-life.”
How many poor women may now die because they couldn’t afford these vital health screenings?
