November 4, 2011 (San Diego) – Rain-slicked highways resulted in 340 collisions countywide by 10 p.m. tonight, roughly six times the number of crashes (50 to 75) on a normal “good weather” day, California Highway Patrol Officer Larry Landeros reports.

The U.S. Border Patrol also had a busy day assisting a half dozen motorists involved in accidents or left stranded. Those included multiple roll-over accidents, including a rollover on Highway 94 in which Border Patrol agents cut a seatbelt to free a woman trapped inside.

Agents also provided traffic control at several accident scenes, according to community relations representative Nydia Daleo.
