September 15, 2017 (Lubbock, Tex.) - San Diego State completed its non-conference schedule on Friday with a 1-0 loss at Texas Tech. With the defeat, the Aztecs fell to 3-5, while the Red Raiders improved to 6-2 on the season.

In the first half, SDSU struggled to get its offense going, but its defense was in top form as it kept the Red Raiders off the scoreboard.

The scoreless tie, however, did not last long after the second half commenced as Kirsten Davis took a cross from Jordie Harr in the 49th minute and finished the play with her first goal of the season.

For the balance of the game, the Aztecs managed to create some opportunities, but could not find any daylight. On the flip side, San Diego State did not allow Texas Tech to find any daylight of its own despite the enormous amount of pressure the Red Raiders put on the visitors.

Texas Tech outshot the Aztecs, 19-6, allowing SDSU just three shots in each half, and enjoyed a 10-3 edge in shots on goal. TTU also attempted 13 cornerkicks compared to SDSU’s two.

Esther Arnarsdottir, Chloe Frisch and Stacie Moran each put their single attempts on goal. Daniela Filipovic, Mia Root and Aliyah Utush were responsible for the other three shots. Gabby English, meanwhile, made a season-high nine saves in net.

The Aztecs return to San Diego to prepare for their Mountain West season, which is to begin on Friday, Sept. 22, vs. Nevada at SDSU Sports Deck. Game time is set for 7 p.m. PT and the contest will air on the Mountain West Network.
