SHERIFF VEHICLE STRUCK BY TROLLEY

August 24, 2017 (Santee) – A Sheriff’s sergeant from the Santee substation sustained minor injuries when his patrol vehicle was struck by a trolley Wednesday evening at 6:25 p.m.

The sergeant, traveling westbound on Buena Vista Avenue at Cuyamaca Street, entered the intersection and was broadsided by the southbound trolley. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

No other injuries were reported.

The Santee traffic division at the Sheriff’s office is investigating and cause has not yet been determined, says Corporal William Price.

Rail Crossing

I have seen rail crossing gates fail one time.
A friend had his car pushed down the tracks when the trolley began serving Lemon Grove. Mr. Babbs wasn't injured but his car was totaled.
A mechanical failure is possible.
