March 11, 2023 (Cuyamaca) -- Campspot, a campsite booking website, has named Lake Cuyamaca Recreation and Park District the fourth best place for tent campers in America. The contest is Campspot’s second annual competition, which includes various categories from glamping to RV parks. View award winners.

Her dog, Prada Van Horn, bundled up in a festive sweater for a romp in the new fallen snow.

FLOWING FALLS AND FLOWERS: EARTH DAY IN EAST COUNTY

April 25, 2017 (Cuyamaca) –From flowing water falls to blooming wildflowers, nature put on a spectacular show in San Diego’s East County. On Saturday,  I headed out to the mountains, taking the Highway 79 exit north off I-8 to start with a visit to Green Valley Falls in Rancho Cuyamaca State Park, followed by stops at Lake Cuyamaca  and picturesque Julian.

PIRATE’S COVE 24/12 RUN/WALK AT LAKE CUYAMACA MARCH 4-5

February 16, 2016 (Lake Cuyamaca) - Avast!  A run/walk at Pirate’s Cove along the shores of Lake Cuyamaca is set to begin on Friday, March 4th.  This unique event includes both a 12 hour and a 24 hour option, with the 24 hour portion kicking off at 8 a.m. and a 12-hour, all-night run/walk starting off at 8 p.m.

RECORD TROUT CAUGHT AT LAKE CUYAMACA

March 27, 2015 (San Diego’s East County) - As fish stories go, this one is a whopper.

A fisherman at Lake Cuyamaca this weekend has reeled in a rainbow trout weighing 17 pounds, 8 ounces—the biggest ever caught at the lake.

February 14, 2012  (Lake Murray) --  One of the royalty members of the skies in the bird world is the Osprey. The king of raptors may go to the Bald Eagle, but on an equal hierarchy as the Eagle is the magnificence Sea Hawk, Fish Hawk, Sea Eagle--  more commonly known today as the Osprey.
