June 19, 2019 (Julian) -- Contemporary Christian Music Coffeehouse will present live music on Friday, June 28 from 5-7 p.m. at the Regulars Wanted Beanery in Julian. Live music will feature the In Faith band with Blake Rogers, Glenn Kelley, Lisa Anderson and Nate Patterson.

JULIAN FIREFIGHTERS HOST SPAGHETTI DINNER TO FILL “BLESSING BOX”

January 19, 2019 (Julian) – The community is invited to a spaghetti dinner hosted by the Julian Cuyamaca Firefighters Association on Sunday, January 20 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Bring a non-perishable food item to share for the Julian Blessing Box, a free food pantry that helps people in need.

Proof that Julian isn’t about apples and apple pies, the sip features growers and producers of wine, craft beer, mead, craft cocktails, and hard cider, offering up a sampling of their delicious hand-crafted specialties. There will also be bites of gourmet foods to savor.

JULIAN’S STAR-SPANGLED JULY 4TH PARADE

June 14, 2018 (Julian) -- This year Julian’s 4th of July parade has the theme, “Julian’s Star Spangled 4th,” a salute to the men and women who made our country great, both domestically and militarily.

For more than twenty years, Julian residents, their friends and parade lovers from all over have lined up at on the town’s main street to wave their flags, cheer the marching bands, salute the Marine Color Guard, and carry a giant American Flag down the thoroughfare. Bands include a bag pipe band, Dixieland jazz, mariachi music and the Gold Drum and Bugle Corps.

June 11, 2018 (Julian/San Diego) – The Julian Firefighter Association invites you to a spaghetti dinner fundraiser on Saturday, June 16th at the Fire House Museum (1572 Columbia St.) in downtown San Diego’s Little Italy district.  Doors open at 5 p.m. with dinner at 6:30 p.m. at an evening that honors Fire Captain Dave Southcott and other volunteers.

STARFEST IN JULIAN AT MENGHINI WINERY AUGUST 6

July 2, 2016 (Julian) - Anyone can enjoy the Julian StarFest by participating in the free public star party on Saturday, August 6, 2016.  Arrive between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. and you can enter the StarFest grounds (1150 Julian Orchards Ln, Julian).  Take a star tour of the heavens using the many telescopes set up in the viewing area.  Experts will be on hand to answer questions.  Parking is available nearby and we suggest you bring a red light flashlight to guide yourself to the observing area, or red film will be provided to cover a white light flashlight.  Please, no white lights in the observing area.

LABOR DAY WEEKEND ART SHOW IN JULIAN

 

August 28, 2014 (Julian) -- Talented artists from Julian and nearby communities will present their works at the Julian Labor Day Weekend Art Show August 30 through September 1. The show wlil be held in the Julian Town  Hall, 2129 Main Street in historic Julian, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Works dissplayed will includepaintings, photography, mosaics, ceramics, printmaking, jewelry and other works of fine art. Admission to the show is free, and many of the artists will be available to discuss their work.  For more details, visit http://www.julianartsguild.org.

OPEN HOUSE AT JULIAN FIRE STATION SEPT. 28

 

August 17, 2013 (Julian) -- Julian Cuyamaca Fire Protection District invites the public to an open house at the Julian Fire Station on Saturday, September 28 from 10-4 p.m.  The station is located on Farmers Road (which becomes Main Street) just east of Julian's historic downtown district.

Guests can enjoy games, firefighters' competitions, food, music in the park, demonstrations, as well as tours of the station, trucks, ambulance and helicopter.  The event also offers home fire prevention supplies, injury simulation ocmplete with makeup and "treatment" by paramedics, and chance to win four raffle packages.

JULIAN BLUES BASH AT MENGHINI WINERY JUNE 15

 

June 12, 2013 (Julian) – Musicians will be wailing the blues on Saturday, June 15, when Robb Bower presents the 15th annual Julian Blues Bash “Family Affair.”  Six blues bands will perform all day. The event also features dancing, food, beer, wine tasting and free parking.

JULIAN HOSTS BARN DANCE AND BACKCOUNTRY BBQ JUNE 8

 

June 6, 2013 (Julian) -- On Saturday, June 8 from 12:00 noon to  10 p.m. , Southern California country and classic rock bands will perform at “The Dance,” Julian’s annual summer music festival and backcountry barbecue. This year’s lineup include: Judy Taylor and the Wild Oats All Girl Band, Cajun/country/rock, noon-2 p.m.; Wathenclan, classic rock, 2-4 p.m.; Nancarrow, nominated as San Diego’s best country band, 4-7 p.m.; and the versatile Fabulous Nomads, 7-10 p.m.

 

Guests can dance under the stars or relax by bonfire and enjoy a variety of food and drink.

SPOTLIGHT ON JULIAN AS 1ST ANNUAL WILD & SCENIC FILM FESTIVAL DEBUTS MAY 5-6

May 4, 2012 (Julian) – Through the beauty of films celebrating the environment, the Julian Wild & Scenic Film Festival promises to inspire activism and appreciation for the natural word. 

This weekend's May 5-6 festival in Julian, a historic gold rush mountain town, brings touring films from the famed Nevada City Wild and Scenic Film Festival. The fun debuts with a party tonight and another Saturday featuring lively tunes of Grand Canyon Sundown. Hikes on Volcan Mountain and in Santa Ysabel Preserve are also planned, as well as award-winning films, a non-fiction filmmakers workshop, and guest speakers.

Film highlights include Connecting the Gems, which tracks two National Geographic Adventures of the Year on a 520 mile trek through the Rockies’ premier wildlife corridors.  Chasing Water, winner of  Best Environmental Film and Best Documentary at other film fests, traces a Colorado watershed from river to the sea.
