March 12, 2020 (San Diego) - After Utah Jazz players Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell tested positive for Coronavirus, the National Basketball Association and several other professional sports leagues have suspended their seasons, the NBA's announcement coming on Wednesday night.  The NBA announced it was suspending games while it determined its next steps.

NCAA CLOSES INVESTIGATION OF SDSU BASKETBALL

San Diego State's athletic department has been notified by the NCAA that the investigation into the SDSU men's basketball team has been dropped, Channel 7 reports.

Jan. 28, 2014 (San Diego) -- The San Diego State Aztecs, who passed a tough road test at Utah State University Saturday night with a 74-69 overtime win, are headed toward the top of the 2014 class. Now ranked #5 in both major national college basketball polls, the 18-1 Aztecs, winners of 17 straight, are cramming for the Final Four in April and a possible national championship.

SDSU STUDENT IS NCAA NATIONAL TRIPLE JUMP CHAMPION

 

Shanieka Thomas is the fifth individual national champion in the program's history

June 12, 2013 (San Diego)--San Diego State junior Shanieka Thomas won the national title in the triple jump to lead the 23rd-ranked Aztecs at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships Friday in Eugene, Oregon. She became the fifth individual national champion in program history and second straight, joining Whitney Ashley, who won the discus throw at the 2012 championship meet.

Thomas, who finished runner-up in the event at both the 2013 indoor meet and 2012 outdoor meet, beat the other 23 entrants with a best of 46 feet, 4 ¾ inches (14.14 meters).

As a three-time team Most Valuable Player and All-CIF selection coming out of El Toro High School in Lake Forest, Calif., expectations were high for Campoli as she continued her water polo career at SDSU.

March 21, 2010 (San Diego) – SDSU men’s basketball team ended its season with 25 wins, the second-most in school history, following a 62-59 defeat by Tennesee at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island Thursday night.

AZTECS OPEN NCAA TOURNAMENT IN RHODE ISLAND; FACE TENNESSEE IN FIRST-ROUND ACTION

 

March 16, 2010 (San Diego) – The San Diego State University Aztecs, eleventh seeded men’s basketball team (25-9 overall; 11-5 Mountain West Conference), tournament champions of the MWC, travels to Providence, R.I., for a match-up against sixth-seeded and 15th/14th-ranked Tennessee (25-9 overall; 11-5 Southeastern Conference) in the fourth first-round game at the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Thursday.

Game time is set for 9:45 p.m. ET (6:45 p.m. PT) and the contest will be televised in high definition by CBS. The CBS game can also be accessed for free via the Internet. Radio coverage of the contest can be heard on AM 600 KOGO.

I'd previously played one unspectacular year of baseball at a city college and my competitive athletic days were pretty much done.

SDSU WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM ADVANCES TO NCAA POST-SEASON FOR 1ST TIME IN 12 YEARS

March 19, 2009 (San Diego)--San Diego State University's women's basketball team, the Aztecs, will play in the NCAA Basketball Championships for the first time since 1997 and the seventh time in the team's history. The team will face off against DePaul University's Blue Demons at 5 p.m. at Cox Arena on Saturday.
