May 5, 2020 (Lakeside) – A male driver and passenger were transported to a hospital with major injuries after jumping from a moving vehicle in Lakeside, says Officer Travis Garrow.

DRIVER SOUGHT IN LAKESIDE CRASH THAT LEFT MOTORCYCLIST BRAIN DEAD—JUST BEFORE HIS WEDDING DAY

August 7, 2019 (Lakeside) -- Steven Johnson was set to be married this Saturday, beginning a new life with his fiancée, Karlene Moen. Instead, his grieving family and friends will be holding a celebration of life in his memory. Johnson, left brain-dead after a motorcycle crash, is set to be removed from life support. 
 
Now his loved ones are asking for public help to find the woman driving a gray compact car, who fled the scene of the accident. The crash occurred last Friday morning around 5:30 a.m. on southbound Highway 67 near Willows Road in Lakeside, 10 News reports.

FIERY LAKESIDE CRASH MAY HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY RACING VEHICLES

February 26, 2019 (Lakeside) – A 1995 red Ford Mustang traveling at a high rate of speed struck a raised curb and rolled over, catching fire around 2:47 a.m.  The occupants of the vehicle had fled the scene by the time emergency responders arrived and it’s unknown who was driving the vehicle.

DRIVER, 23, DIES IN LATE-NIGHT LAKESIDE CRASH

December 22, 2016 (Lakeside) – A 23-year-old San Diego woman driving a Toyota Solara eastbound on I-8 east of Los Coches Road last night at 11:50 p.m. lost control of her vehicle while changing lanes on the rain-slicked highway.  Her vehicle struck a metal guard rail, then overturned.

SIG ALERT: CRASH SHUTS DOWN WILDCAT CANYON IN LAKESIDE

East County Wildfire & Emergency Alerts

Update 8:10 a.m.  Big-rig tow is nearly at the scene. After towing away vehicles, road shutdown will be changed to one-way closure for next 10-12 hours while power line repairs are made, per CHP website. SDG&E will handle the traffic one-way closure.

Update 7:30 a.m. -- The fires are now out.  Two people have been transported to trauma centers with injuries.

June 14, 2016 (Lakeside) -- 6:40 a.m. A SIG ALERT has been issued for a two-vehicle crash on Wildcat Canyon at Willow Road in Lakeside. One vehicle is on its roof, the other 100 feet down an anbankment with people trapped inside. The crash sparked several small brush fires and knocked down power lines, causing an outage to 21 customers with power restoration estimated at 9:30 a.m. per SDG&E.

Lakeside and Heartland Fire are on the scene.

21-YEAR-OLD MAN KILLED IN HEAD-ON CRASH IN LAKESIDE

June 23, 2013 (Lakeside) – A head-on collision late last night on Lake Jennings Road just west of El Monte Road in Lakeside resulted in two dramatic rescues and one fatality.  The crash involved a four-door Altima sedan and a four-door Jeep.

Sheriff’s deputies were first on the scene and extinguished a fire in the Altima. Lakeside Fire Protection District arrived to find two patients trapped in their vehicles and another who had self extricated.  Lakeside resident Harold Wise IV, 21, the driver of the Altima, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HOMICIDE VICTIMS IN 67 CRASH IDENTIFIED; HUSBAND ARRESTED

July 1, 2010 (Lakeside) -- Two women found dead at the scene of a car crash off Highway 67 Tuesday in Lakeside have been identified as Thao Richardson, 57, and her mother, Than Lyi, 72. Today, Sheriff’s officers arrested Michael Eugene Richardson, 57, for statutory rape of his 17-year-old niece.

 

An investigation into the crash has concluded that it was staged.  Authorities on the scene told ECM that “suspicious evidence” was found. Richardson has not yet been charged with the double murder, but he is considered “the only person of interest” in those deaths by Sheriff’s officials, according to other media reports today.
