January 18, 2012 (La Mesa) – East County has long been a conservative bastion. But with changing demographics, party registration has shifted in some communities; La Mesa is now a majority Democratic and El Cajon has only a slight Republican edge. With reapportionment, La Mesa and much of El Cajon have shifted into districts represented by Democrat Susan Davis, raising visibility for the party.

May 28, 2011, ( El Cajon ) – With the summer approaching and warmer weather coming our way, Camp Bow Wow along with Cat & Doggie Works will once again host a Woof-n-Wash Fundraiser to help support local Animal Shelters.
On June 4th, Camp Bow Wow, El Cajon, will host its 2nd Annual Woof-n-Wash Fundraiser. The event is co-hosted by Cat & Doggie Works, El Cajon. This event is open to the public and will raise funds and awareness for local shelters.

May 12, 2011 (Alpine) -- Lions Tigers and Bears is holding its "Wild in the Country" fundraiser on Saturday May 21, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
"There will be several incredible live auction items, including trips to Hawaii, Banff, Canada, a polar bear expedition and more!" a press release from LTB states. The organization is is also partnering with two entertainers - the band Haute Chileand the dancers ofDance Masters. Phil's BBQ is catering this event.
"Phil's has been providing amazing food to the San Diego area for years and is always a big hit," LTB's release states. "Hope you'll come to this event to support animals and help raise awareness for the plight of captive big cats."

The doors open at 6:15 and the show starts promptly at 7:00. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Headliner and alumni Dat Phan will be performing with a variety of other comedians. Dat was the season 1 winner of NBC's hit show, "Last Comic Standing."
