TWO RESIDENTS SELECTED FOR EL CAJON VETERANS' COMMISSION

August 14, 2014 (El Cajon)--The El Cajon City Council has filled two vacancies on the City of El Cajon Veterans’ Commission. During Tuesday’s City Council meeting, the City Council selected Leo P. Dano and George V. Glover.  Mr. Dano is a United States Army veteran and his term on the commission expires on January 31, 2017.  Mr. Glover is a veteran member of the United States Coast Guard and his term expires on January 31, 2015.

The Veterans’ Commission serves many important functions for the City. It functions in an advisory capacity to the City Council and the City Manager,;makes recommendations to the City Council and the City Manager with respect to military veteran related issues, ceremonies, events and activities that occur within the City; provides a forum for discussion of issues relating to military veterans; provides advice and assistance to City residents when requested regarding resources available to veterans’ spouses and dependents; and acts as a conduit of communication and coordination between the local military veterans’ community and the City of El Cajon.  The Commission meets quarterly, or as needed.
