July 4, 2017 (La Mesa-Spring Valley) -  Applications are being accepted now through July 24 to fill a vacancy on the La Mesa-Spring Valley Board of Education. Board member Rick Winet resigned after taking a position with McGregor Inc., a benefits administrator, to avoid a potential conflict of interest.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, reside within the boundaries of the La Mesa-Spring Valley School District, be a United States citizen, and a registered voter.  The appointee will serve through December 2018.

The Secretary of the Board must receive applications no later than 4:45 p.m. on July 24.

At the regularly scheduled Board meeting on Tuesday, August 1, at 7:00 p.m., the Board will review applications and a maximum of eight candidates will be selected for final interview at a special Board meeting on Thursday, August 3. Board meetings are held in the Boardroom at 4750 Date Avenue, La Mesa.

Each candidate shall have three minutes at the special meeting of the La Mesa-Spring Valley Board of Education on August 3 to present qualifications for appointment, followed by questions from Board members. The Board will then publicly discuss qualifications of candidates and make its selection, following Robert's Rules of Order. The special Board meeting of Thursday, August 3 at 5:00 p.m. will be held at the La Mesa-Spring Valley School District Warren T. Hogarth Education Service Center, 4750 Date Avenue, La Mesa.
