WOMAN STRUCK, KILLED BY VEHICLE IN EL CAJON

March 15, 2012 (El Cajon) -- A woman, 50, who stepped into a roadway while talking with companions at a bus stop in El Cajon was struck by a PT Cruiser and killed at 8:08 p.m. last night in the 1100 block of East Main Street.


According to Lt. Frank La Haye with El Cajon  Police, "The pedestrian was wearing dark clothing and appeared to be unaware of the vehicle traffic."

The adult driver of the PT Cruiser immediately stopped after the collision and is cooperating with traffic investigators, Lt. La Haye said."A passerby who had heard the accident also stopped and attempted to render first aid until paramedics arrived."


Fire Paramedics arrived and despite their best efforts, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later.

This investigation is ongoing and information about the victim is not being released pending family notification.  Anyone with information regarding this collision is encouraged to contact the El Cajon Police Department Traffic Division at 619-441-1632.

The El Cajon Police would like to remind pedestrians when walking at night 
to wear bright clothing and to use designated cross walks whenever possible.
