November 7, 2011 (San Diego’s East County) – The San Diego Brewers Guild hosts its third annual San Diego Beer Week now through November 13. Our region has emerged as a nationally recognized hub for craft beer making, with over 40 breweries. San Diego's brewers won more medals at the 2010 World Beer Cup than the traditional beer bastions of Germany, England and Belgium combined.

San Diego Beer Week's celebration features events countywide—including several here in East County:

Terra American Bistro in La Mesa will partner with Ballast Point Brewing for beers paired with lunch and breakfast items at a Saturday, November 12 brunch at 11 a.m. Tempt your taste buds with entrees such as “Abandon ship smoked lager braised pork belly” or “Barmy apricot honey ale-cured salmon” and much more. Chef Jeff Rossman specializes in farm-to-table fresh cuisine; his cookbook, From Terra’s Table, was recently honored at the San Diego Book Awards. Cost is $45; reservations are required. Call (619)293-7088 to reserve space. http://www.terrasd.com.

Santee’s Manzanita Brewing Company will have a party on Thursday, November 10 at Riviera Supper Club in La Mesa from 5-8 p.m. Meet the brewer and savor short ribs braised in Gillespie Brown Ale, while savoring other brews on top and in bottles. For those who’d like to linger, Old Tiger will be performing live country music starting at 8 p.m. in Riviera’s Turquoise Room. Spirits Scripps Ranch will team up with Ballast Point Brewing to co-host Spiced Beer Day on Wednesday, November 9 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. This event will be held at the brewery at 10051 Old Grove Road, Suite B in San Diego. Brewers will be pouring four infused Ballast Point beers including Indra Kunindra India-style Export Stout (brewed with curry spice, coconut, Kaffir lime leaf, cayenne and cumin), Ginger Big Eye IPA (infused with fresh ginger), San Salvador Indigenous Saison (brewed with Manzanita berries, white sage, wildflower honey, elderberries, roasted pine nuts and other local ingredients), and Brother Levonian Saison, a Belgian-style spiced farmhouse brew.
