Oct 11, 2012 (Rancho San Diego) – Halloween just got more frightening in the East County and it's happening at Cottonwood Golf Club with a "Scary Maze.” "Scary Maze" will frighten and entertain people of all ages beginning Friday, October 19 and continuing on Fridays and weekends through October 28.
The 10,000 square foot maze will be built on Cottonwood Golf Club's driving range. Stacked bales of hay and the design will provide a frightening challenge to find the exit. "We are taking the term "dead end" literally," said Henry Gamboa, Cottonwood Golf Club's Principal Owner. He added, "There's a reason we are using the word "scary" to describe the maze and visitors will discover why as they try to make their way out."
This is the first year that Cottonwood Golf Club has erected a maze for the Halloween season. Cottonwood Golf Club's Assistant General Manger, Christina Liska, says the timing couldn't be better for East County residents. "Due to rising gas prices, local families are becoming hesitant to travel downtown or to the coast for Halloween entertainment," said Liska. She added, "Cottonwood Golf Club is providing East County residents a close, safe, and fun atmosphere to get in the Halloween spirit.”
In addition to the "Scary Maze", visitors will enjoy a Beer Garden, live music, dancing, delicious food, and scary movies on an outdoor screen. "We are encouraging visitors to bring a blanket and enjoy classic Halloween-themed films with the entire family under the stars,” said Liska. Special hours are devoted to children with Kid's Halloween Hunts on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. when Halloween candy will be available in the maze.
General admission prices are $5 for children 12 and under and $20 for adults. On Saturdays and Sundays from noon-to 5 p.m. the adult price is $10 with a paid child. Operating hours for general admission are: Friday, Oct. 19 & 26 and Thursday, Oct. 25 from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 20 & 27 from noon to 12 a.m., and Sunday, Oct. 21 & 28 from noon to 10 p.m. Cottonwood Golf Club is located at 3121 Willow Glen Drive in Rancho San Diego.
