April 1, 2024 (Lemon Grove) – The City of Lemon Grove today announced a grant to upgrade the city’s storm drain system and beautiful the city’s main thoroughfares with a system of canals.

A new filtration system will recycle rainwater and irrigation run-off to replenish water in canals lost to evaporation.

“We believe this will provide a boost to tourism in a revitalized Lemon Grove, with Italian-style gondolas to ferry residents and visitors among key destinations,” said Wanda Row, a PR agent hired by the city to promote the project and serve as gondolier fleet chief. “A docking station will be created outside Giardino’s Italian restaurant, with gondolas making stops at strategic locations such as city hall, the trolley station, and the library.”

Will Pavit, a spokesperson for the city’s public works department observed, “Waterways replacing heavily traveled city streets will mean fewer potholes to repair—freeing up funds to fix more potholes on neighborhood streets,” drawing cheers from the crowd of residents.
