March 13, 2017 (La Mesa) – Homelessness in LA Mesa will be the topic for the next La Mesa Conversation mixer on Thursday, March 23 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Johnny B’s restaurant, 83993 La Mesa Blvd.

The guest speaker will be Lois Knowlton EdD,  Homelessness and Affordable Housing Advocate at  La Mesa First United Methodist Church.

Guests are encouraged to bring a few items that the La Mesa First united Methodist Church Community Outreach Team can use for its "Fresh Start Saturday" program, an opportunity for our homeless or near homeless neighbors to receive a free breakfast, take a shower, find some "new" (to them) clothes or shoes to wear, get a haircut, and take a bagged lunch to-go.

Items the Fresh Start Saturday team can use include: non-perishable food items (think for bagged lunches, like crackers, cookies, candy bars), bottled water, and clothing items (shoes, belts, coats, new underwear, t-shirts and socks, clothes suitable for job interviews).

The event is free and all La Mesa residents and others who love La Mesa, are welcome to attend.  The evening will also be an opportunity to meet neighbors and discuss progress in La Mesa in 2017.
