January 27, 2012 (El Cajon) -- The Water Conservation Garden at Cuyamaca College  has  announced new classes ranging from raising chickens to beekeeping to aquaponics.  For details, scroll down:
 
American Sign Language
 
Saturday, February 4, 10am-12 noon
 
Are you curious about sign language? Join the Garden's education specialist and her alter-ego, Ms. Smarty Plants, for this 2-hour fun filled class. Learn many basic signs, as well as a little about the Deaf Culture. You will be signing to music by the time you leave, and handouts are provided so you can practice at home.

The Backyard Flock: Raising Urban Chickens
 
Saturday, February 11, 10:30am-12 noon 
 
Raise farm fresh eggs in your own backyard! The Garden's Education Director, Laurie Furry, will share everything you need to know to start enjoying farm fresh eggs while keeping your new flock happy and healthy. You will meet a couple of ladies from Laurie's flock and see a slide show of other interesting breeds available for a home flock. Pre-registration and payment is required

Village Aquaponics Workshop-Presented by Ecolife Foundation

Aquapoincs is the symbiotic growing of plants and aquatic animals in a recirculating environment.

Fall in Love with Bees!

Bee Advocate Geoff Kipps-Bolton of bees-on-the-net.com will share the secret life of bees and get you excited about the bees visiting your yard. Geoff will share an introduction to beekeeping. Learn why bees swarm and what to do of a swarm lands on your property. A tour through the Garden seeing bees in action, is included in this class. Pre-registration and payment is required.
