UKRANIAN NATIONAL SENTENCED TO 17 YEARS PRISON FOR SEX TRAFFICKING TWO ADULT WOMEN

May 5, 2016 (San Diego) -- Sergeyi Bazar, a 37-year-old Ukrainian national living in San Diego, was sentenced in federal court May 3rd to 17 years in custody for sex trafficking two adult women in late 2014. Bazar was found guilty after jury trial in November 2015 for two counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion and one count of coercion and enticement.

WARNER SPRINGS SCHOOLS CLOSED DUE TO VANDALISM

May 3, 2016 (Warner Springs) – Extensive vandalism forced closure today of the entire Warner Unified School District complex, which includes elementary through high school classrooms as well as district offices.  The district's website states it hopes to reopen soon and will notify parents when children can return to school.

A maintenance worker arriving at work Wednesday morning discovered the damage, which included graffiti, broken windows, classrooms ransacked, furniture overturned and fire extinguishers discharged.  The worker called  Sheriff’s deputies at 5:15 a.m.

April 24, 2016 (Lakeside) – Lance Benson, 29, of Lakeside has been arrested and will be charged with murder for the death of a man found early this morning on a sidewalk by a newspaper delivery person. The victim has been identified as Trammel Joseph Rizzuti, age 35 and the death was caused by sharp force trauma.

MAN SET ON FIRE NOT EXPECTED TO SURVIVE; POLICE SEEK SUSPECT IN BLACK TOYOTA PICKUIP

April 18, 2016 (San Diego) – San Diego Police are searching for a suspect who set a homeless man on fire at 11:45 a.m. Sunday in a parking lot outside a CVS store  near the Rite Aid  on  Euclid Ave just north of highway 94. 

 The suspect asked for water, then lured the victim into his vehicle, a black Toyota 2-door pickup with a camper shell, then threw chemicals on him and set him afire, watching with chilling calm as the man suffered burns so severe that authorities indicate he is not expected to survive.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man age 30-40, 6 feet tall and weighing about 170 pounds.  He wore a red hat, red shirt, and black pants. Authorities have released a sketch of the suspect showing a beard and mustache.

April 9, 2016 (Lakeside) --  A worker for a pest control company who arrived to remove a termite fumigation tent from a home at 9548 Farmington Drive in Lakeside Friday found an intruder in the home. The suspect fled and the employee pursued him in his work truck, said Sergeant Mike McNeill.

April 7, 2016 (Lakeside) – A 9-year-old girl was been taken into protective custody this morning after patrol deputies from the Lakeside substation found her living in a small shed with her father and a woman at 12721 Lindo Lane in Lakeside. The discovery occurred during a probation compliance check in which six men and 2 women were arrested on charges that included child endangerment as well as drug, weapons, and parole violations.

AMBER ALERT: TODDLER REPORTEDABDUCTED BY FATHER IN SILVER IMPALA

April 4, 2016 (San Diego )—Authorities have issued an Amber Alert across southern Calfornia for Ayden Avalas, an 18-month old Hispanic boy  reportedly abducted early this afternoon in Los Angeles by his father, 21-year-old Luis Avalos.

The suspect was driving a 2006 silver Chevrolet Impala four-door car with California license plate 7LPF713.  The suspect should be considered “violent and dangerous,” posing an “extreme-extraordinary threat” according to an alert sent by the California Highway Patrol.

The suspect is bald with brown eyes and tattoos around his neck and left check.  He stands 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds.   The abducted child has black hair and brown eyes.

LMPD PROVIDES UPDATE ON GRANT ACTIVITIES TO BATTLE ALCOHOL-RELATED CRIME
