September 20, 2011 (San Diego’s East County) – A worker on the Sunrise Powerlink suffered injury yesterday and was flown by private helicopter to an ambulance, where he was transported to a hospital, Incident Page Network reported.

Par Electrical Contractors, a subcontractor for SDG&E, confirms that an injury occurred in rural East County but said the worker was not seriously hurt.

“He’s just got a few bruises and he’s already back to work,” Deborah Tate at PAR Electrical Contractors inc. informed ECM this morning. “A fitting came loose, rolled down and bumped his leg. He was taken in for precautionary reasons just for x-rays. Fortunately, there are no broken bones.”

Tate declined to state precisely where the injury occurred, except to note that it occurred “along the right-of-way” for Powerlink in a rural area of San Diego’s East County.

She described the incident as a “freak” accident but added, “Of course this is under investigation through our safety committee to find out why it happened and take steps to make sure that it won’t happen again. We take safety very seriously.”
