LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS' SMART VOTER WEBSITE AVAILABLE
October 19, 2012 (San Diego) -- SmartVoter.org, the popular election website managed by the League of Women Voters, offers comprehensive easily accessible online election information for voters.
This website offers all candidates free space to post their own messages to voters. Voters just enter their address and they will see which races and propositions will be on their ballot. The candidates’ information will include biographical highlights, priorities, political philosophy, a photo, list of endorsers, position papers, and links to their websites.
Extensive information on the state propositions is on Smart Voter, as well as the local propositions throughout the county.
Voters can visit the site at their convenience and candidates can edit their spaces until a day before the election.
Volunteer League members continue to add media links, answer extensive feedback received, and encourage all candidates to take advantage of the service. In the last presidential election, over 9 million page views were recorded statewide and increased traffic is expected this year.
The League of Women Voters never endorses or opposes candidates or political parties. The purpose of this free site is to provide voters information to help them make informed choices.
