The Dark and Light Sides of Fantasy, by R.e. Taylor (Shadowlight Publishing, MacGregor, Australia, 2013).

Book Review by Dennis Moore

R.e. Taylor, the author of The Dark and Light Sides of Fantasy, will be bringing this intriguing collection of fantasy tales to the upcoming Los Angeles Times Festival of Books at the University of Southern California on April 20 & 21, where upwards of 150,000 attendees are expected for this showcase of talent.

At least two other bestselling authors that I have written book reviews for in the East County Magazine will also be at this event, New York Times Bestselling Author Caitlin Rother, author of Lost Girls, and Joshua Graham, Barnes & Noble #1 bestselling author of Beyond Justice. Here’s hoping that Taylor has similar success with his book at the Festival of Books.

The Dark and Light Sides of Fantasy by Taylor is a print or eBook through the eyes of the author, who loves the thought of taking the impossible and making it seem interesting and plausible. Each story was written to shock, thrill or surprise the reader with unique characters, locations and otherworldly looks into some ideas that some people might think of as “normal.”

Readers have suggested that these short stories have left them wanting more and more of Taylor’s short stories. As his book will be introduced to the public at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, readers will get the opportunity to question the author and to purchase this book.

Since The Dark and Light Sides of Fantasy is comprised of several short stories, I recommend to interested readers the Mission to Mars episode.

To show the range of Taylor, two CDs of short stories of fantasy by the author (ranging from vampires and haunted sites to dragons and the moment of death) will be parlayed in a companion to The Dark and Light Sides of Fantasy titled Light & Dark Tales of Fantasy. Some stories are designed to scare while others are written to entertain. This book, as with the title book, will be launched at the Los Angeles Times book fest on April 20. Here’s hoping everyone will be there to obtain their copy.
