SANTEE WOMAN FIGHTS OFF RAPIST, NEIGHBOR ARRESTED

Santee (June 26, 2009)--A woman who was attacked as she slept in her apartment in Santee on Wednesday afternoon, June 24 successfully fought off an assailant who attempted to rape her, according to the San Diego County Sheriff.

The victim,42, identified her attacker as a neighbor, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported. He was arrested shortly afterward in his apartment in the same complex on Magnolia Avenue. The woman told authorities she was sleeping at approximately 3:30 p.m. when her neighbor broke in and attacked her, ripping off her clothes. After she fought him off, he left, according to the victim’s report. No one else was home at the time of the attack.
