June 8, 2014(San Diego)--Sheriff's Deputies went door to door today in Borrego Springs to inform the community about a Sexually Violent Predator (SVP) now living in their neighborhood. Terry Allan Stone was released from Coalinga State Mental Hospital on Tuesday, June 3rd and has registered as an SVP with the Sheriff's Department.

Stone is now living at 2632 Frying Pan Road, Borrego Springs. The Sheriff's Department and the Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement (SAFE) Task Force are not responsible for the selection of Stone's residence. The placement is the sole responsibility of the California Department of State Hospitals (DSH) and the San Diego County Superior Court.

The location is also close to a park and several schools.

For a certain amount of time, Stone will have a security guard living with him. While under the supervision of Liberty Healthcare, Stone is required to wear a GPS ankle bracelet allowing law enforcement to track his whereabouts. A judge ordered Stone never to go to Christmas Circle Community Park. Stone also must avoid certain streets or paths that might put him around children.

Stone served more than 20 years in prison for molesting five boys between the ages of five and 13 years old from 1983 to 1993.

“Megan’s Law,” permits law enforcement agencies to warn the community about sex offenders who frequent the area. The purpose of this notice is to allow members of the public to protect themselves and/or their children from sex offenders. Use of this information to threaten, intimidate, or harass the subject may result in prosecution.
