March 2, 2015 (San Diego)--Storm run-off contaminated with sewage in the Tijuana River Estuary has led to closure of beaches in the southern portion of San Diego County.

The County’s Department of Environmental Health has shut down Silver Strand State Beach on Coronado and coastal areas south to Imperial Beach and the Tijuana Slough National Wildlife Refuge, as the contaminated flow from the Tijuana River mouth moves northward.

Signs warning of sewage contaminated water will remain in place until field measurements indicate that the ocean water is safe for recreational use.

For updates on beach closure information you can visit www.sdbeachinfo.com or call the 24-hr. hotline at (619) 338-2073.
