March 9, 2015 (San Diego) -- FBI Special Agent Eric S. Birnbaum has announced the arrest of Armando Gonzalez, a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol Agent accused of videotaping women with a hidden video camera  in the bathroom of a Customs and Border Protection building in Chula Vista. A federal complaint unsealed today reveals that Gonzalez, 46, has been charged with video voyeurism and making false statements.

Gonzalez was arrested Friday in El Cajon. A card from the camera includes an image of a man believed to be Gonzalez installing the camera in the drain of the women’s restroom.  The investigation found 169 video files allegedly recorded inside the restroom

On Monday, March 9th, Gonzales appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge, Jill Burkhardt.  Burkhardt, set bond at $50,000 and issued an order forbidding Gonzalez from having contact with any of the victims in this case.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 19, 2015 at 9:30 a.m., before U.S. Magistrate Judge, Jill Burkhardt.

This case is being investigated by the FBI, U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of Inspector General (OIG), U.S. Customs Border Protection, Internal Affairs and San Diego Police Department.

This matter is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney's Office, Southern District of California, San Diego, California.
