July 26, 2016 (Lakeside) – A male pedestrian was struck by a box truck and killed on Interstate 8 west just east of Lake Jennings Park Road yesterday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The fatality occurred around 3:45 p.m. A Sig Alert was issued and two lanes closed for an hour and a half during the investigation.

The identity of the victim, and the reason why he was on the freeway, are not yet known.
