6 CANDIDATES RUNNING FOR EL CAJON COUNCIL—BUT DEADLINE MAY BE EXTENDED IF COUNCILMAN AMBROSE DOESN’T FILE BY THURSDAY

August 10, 2016 (El Cajon) – Three seats are up for election on the El Cajon Council. All are currently held by incumbents. Council members Bob McClellan and Star Bales have filed to run for reelection and qualified to appear on the ballot, according to Monica Zech, the city’s public information officer. But so far, Councilman Tony Ambrose has not.
If Ambrose does not file nomination papers and turn in signatures for verification by 5 p.m. Thursday (tomorrow), the Aug. 11 nomination period will be extended for others to file until Wednesday, August 17.
Besides the incumbents, four challengers have also qualified for the ballot, says Zech, meaning signatures on their nomination papers have been verified by the Registrar of Voters office.
The challengers in the race are Paul Circo, Joseph Fountain, George Glover, and Steve Goble.
Three of the candidates recently spoke at the East County Chamber of Commerce’s Politics in Paradise event.
Circo has served on the city’s planning commission and heads up maintenance and security at Shadow Mountain Community Church.
Glover has served on the city’s veterans commission and on the East County Chamber of Commerce’s veterans round table, is a partner in The Wrangler Family Barbecue, and a senior IT Manager at Oracle Corporation.
Goble said he has experience as a marketing executive.
