November 1, 2016 (Ocotillo Wells) – Poway resident Gary Schultz, 56, was found Sunday morning after a dirt bike crash in Ocotillo Wells and died soon after of injuries.

Authorities believe he was riding his dirt bike when he lost control, hit a sand berm and was ejected. Motorcyclists found him off Split Mountain Road near Old Kane Springs Road.

Those who found him flagged down a bystander who called 911, but Schultz died at the scene before he could be transported to a hospital.
